Success Stories

Real experiences from Bangladeshi workers who built careers in Europe.

Germany 4 years abroad

Rahim Uddin

Welder

"I came to Germany with basic welding skills and a dream. After completing a vocational training program, I now work at a major automotive parts factory in Stuttgart earning EUR 2,800 per month. I send money home every month to support my family in Sylhet."

Advice

Learn at least basic German before you arrive. It makes everything easier — from reading your contract to talking with coworkers. The Goethe-Institut offers affordable courses online.

Poland 3 years abroad

Kamal Hossain

Construction Worker

"Poland was not my first choice, but it turned out to be the best decision of my life. The cost of living is much lower than Western Europe, so I can save more. I started as a helper and now I lead a small team of workers on residential building projects in Warsaw."

Advice

Do not pay excessive fees to recruitment agents. The Polish visa process is straightforward if you have a valid job offer. I paid only BDT 80,000 total for everything.

Italy 5 years abroad

Jamal Miah

Restaurant Cook

"I worked in restaurants in Dhaka for 8 years before coming to Italy. Now I cook both Italian and Bangladeshi food at a popular restaurant in Rome. My Italian boss treats me like family. I have learned to make perfect pasta and pizza alongside our traditional biryanis."

Advice

If you work in hospitality, learn the local cuisine. Italian employers really respect workers who take interest in their food culture. It helped me get promoted faster than anyone expected.

France 6 years abroad

Faruk Ahmed

Truck Driver

"Getting my European driving license was the hardest part, but once I had it, opportunities opened everywhere. I drive long-haul routes across France and sometimes into Belgium and Spain. The pay is good and I get to see beautiful countryside every day."

Advice

Convert your Bangladeshi driving license early and practice for the European test. The rules are very different here. Also, always keep your tachograph records clean — inspections are strict.

Netherlands 2 years abroad

Nasir Khan

Warehouse Operator

"I work at a large distribution center near Rotterdam. The work is physical but the conditions are excellent. We get proper breaks, safety equipment, and overtime is always paid. My Dutch colleagues have been very welcoming and helped me settle in."

Advice

The Netherlands has strong worker protection laws. Know your rights from day one. Join a trade union like FNV — they offer free support in multiple languages and will fight for you if your employer does anything wrong.

Spain 3 years abroad

Shahidul Islam

Agricultural Worker

"I work on olive and citrus farms in Andalusia. The work is seasonal but my employer keeps me year-round because I am reliable and hardworking. During harvest season, I can earn double. Spain has a large Bangladeshi community which made the transition much easier."

Advice

Seasonal work can lead to permanent positions if you prove yourself. Always arrive on time, never complain about the heat, and learn basic Spanish. Farm owners remember good workers and call them back every season.

Czech Republic 4 years abroad

Mizanur Rahman

Factory Machine Operator

"I operate CNC machines at an auto parts factory near Prague. The company trained me for 3 months and now I earn EUR 1,600 per month with free accommodation. The Czech Republic is a hidden gem — safe, affordable, and the people are friendly once they get to know you."

Advice

Do not overlook Central European countries. The salaries might seem lower than Germany or France, but the cost of living is much less. I save almost the same percentage of my income as friends working in Western Europe.

Romania 2 years abroad

Abul Kashem

Mason

"Romania is booming with construction projects and they need skilled workers. I came here as a mason and within one year I was promoted to site supervisor for a residential project in Bucharest. The Romanian workers respect my skills and experience from building work back in Chattogram."

Advice

Bring proof of your work experience and any training certificates you have from Bangladesh. Even informal experience counts here. Also, Romania is joining the Schengen area which means more opportunities to work across Europe in the future.
